Geriatric Medicine Fellowship

Overview

The primary aim of the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth is to advance trainees in a diverse interdisciplinary program who are already skilled in Family Practice and Internal Medicine in geriatric medicine.

Trainees acquire the experience necessary to deliver a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to improve older adults’ wellness and independence. Fellows have the opportunity to receive additional training in the design, conduct, and analysis of clinical or basic research, and quality improvement research from well-qualified geriatricians.

The fellowship program is a one-year clinical track with two to three positions per year. Fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, our program meets the board certification requirements in Geriatric Medicine by both the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).

Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul
