41st Annual McGovern Medical School Retreat to be held August 11-12 at Camp Allen

July 12, 2017

Dear Faculty and Alumni,

On behalf of the Class of 2020, the Faculty & Alumni Committee would like to invite you to the 41st Annual McGovern Medical School MS1 Retreat. This will be an unforgettable experience for our first-year medical students, serving as an exciting opportunity for many of them to get to know their classmates and professors outside of the classroom. For so many, it is a time when new friendships are formed, a powerful community is built, and lasting memories are made. Likewise, the retreat marks the start of their medical school journey towards becoming a physician, and we feel there is no better way to motivate them than to introduce them to practicing physicians who once stood where they are standing now, underwent the same rigorous training, and graduated from their school. For these reasons, we would be delighted if your presence could be felt at the retreat.

We are incorporating several activities specifically for alumni in hopes to host as many of you as we can. What’s more, we want to allow you as many opportunities as possible to engage directly with our incoming students, whether by being involved in a skit, participating in a small group, or simply showing up and being available. This year’s theme is “School of Medical Magic”! Think “Harry Potter,” except with a medical-student twist. We believe this selected theme embodies the comradery and dedication to honing the craft necessary to begin a medical journey. You serve as mentors and wizards for us, and we want our incoming students to know that they are also heroes and have a network of peers and mentors on whom they can rely.

Please do attend and/or consider supporting the retreat financially so we can further develop and expand the retreat experience for the incoming Class of 2021. If you are interested in registering to attend the 41st Annual McGovern Medical School Retreat, please follow the link below. Bringing children is free and childcare is provided! Additionally, we have included links for contributing to the Class of 2020 or to the Strobel Endowment, which goes towards helping fund future Retreats. We appreciate any and all contributions towards giving our incoming students the best Retreat experience possible!
