The Office of Alumni Relations is dedicated to nurturing and sustaining vibrant relationships between McGovern Medical School and its alumni, to facilitating communication between these two groups, and to serving as a resource in connecting alumni to the Medical School, to students, and to each other.
C. Mark Chassay, M.D., MBA, ’92

Assistant Professor, Orthopaedic Surgery
A native Houstonian, Dr. Chassay joined the faculty at the Medical School in 2014. A graduate of the Medical School, Class of 1992, he served as student class president. He previously served as the deputy executive commissioner of the Office of Health Policy and Clinical Services at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. He also worked at The University of Texas at Austin Intercollegiate Athletics for 17 1/2 years, including six seasons as head team physician. Chassay also has volunteered for the United States Olympic Committee and has worked five international multi-sport events serving as chief medical officer three times, with the latest at the Paralympics in London.
Derrick J. Miller
Derrick joined our staff in November 2011. A native Houstonian, he moved to Austin in 2000 to attend The University of Texas at Austin where he received his BBA in Marketing in 2004. Derrick spent six years at Texas Exes, the Alumni Association of The University of Texas at Austin, where he served as director of scholarships and donor relations. He is excited to be at UTHealth and partner with the Board of Trustees of the Alumni Association to continue to connect alumni to each other and to McGovern Medical School.
Jennifer R. Allen
A native Houstonian, Jennifer joined the Office of Alumni Relations in February of 2017. She initially joined the Medical School in 2010 with the Office of Faculty Affairs under the administrative direction of Henry W. Strobel, Ph.D., Associate Dean and Faye W. Viola, Director. During her tenure in Faculty Affairs, she had the privilege to assist Dr. Strobel and the 4th Year students with the preparations for the Annual China Trip. In 2015,she transferred to the Department of Pediatrics where she assisted the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Central Administration by providing support to numerous faculty and staff. She enjoyed the privilege of being able to assist with and help organize the UTHealth and Memorial Hermann Hospital March of Dimes – March for Babies walk. Jennifer eagerly looks forward to working with the Board of Trustees of the Alumni Association and all faculty, staff and students that have a part in making the McGovern Medical School one of the sixth largest and greatest medical schools.
