The Cardiovascular Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship at UTHealth Houston Heart & Vascular is a 12-month postgraduate training program designed to prepare Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants for advanced clinical practice in cardiovascular medicine.
This fellowship is developed in collaboration with the Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston, providing fellows with access to a structured cardiovascular education curriculum. The fellowship program provides structured clinical training, competency-based assessment, and interdisciplinary mentorship across the full spectrum of cardiovascular care. As a fellow, you will gain hands-on experience in ambulatory cardiology, inpatient cardiology consult, electrophysiology, critical care cardiology, advanced heart failure, and cardiovascular surgery.
For the new advanced practice provider (APP), the program is designed to accelerate the transition from graduate training to competent, high-level practice within a high-acuity specialized environment. For the experienced APP, the program is designed to provide advanced cardiovascular knowledge and competency in clinical decision making within this high acuity area.
