Yili Zhang, Ph.D., a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Department’s Byrne Lab, has been awarded a Fellowship by the National Library of Medicine Training Program (NLMTP) through the W.M. Keck Center for Interdisciplinary Bioscience Training.
One goal of the Keck center, which spans six biomedical institutions in the greater Houston area, is to train pre- and postdoctoral fellows in biomedical informatics. These efforts are supported, in part, by this award from the National Library of Medicine Training Program (NLMTP). The NLMTP award is currently in its 17th year.
Computational biology is reshaping medicine in important ways, and the Keck Center emphasizes this emerging discipline in the research experiences our trainees. Areas of training include clinical informatics, translational medicine, public health, biosecurity, applied nanotechnology and computational biomedical engineering.
The Keck Center has considerable strengths in simulation and imaging, statistical and computational biomedicine, clinical decision-making and deep expertise regarding biological structure and function. The Keck Center employs processes for recruiting, selecting, monitoring and assessing trainees that have proved so successful over the years.
