Medical Education
The Office of Educational Programs (OEP) at McGovern Medical School provides general administrative oversight and management for all aspects of the undergraduate medical education curriculum.
This includes supporting the Curriculum Committee and its associated subcommittees, administering several interdepartmental courses and fourth-year clinical electives, managing the standardized patient program and the administration of the Comprehensive Clinical Competency Examination at the end of the third year, as well as several student programs, including Pre-Entry, the Summer Research Program, and the Scholarly Concentrations program. The OEP monitors student performance outcomes to measure the efficacy of the curriculum, including student performance on national examinations and performance in residency training programs.
Graduate Medical Education (GME)
The mission of the Office of Graduate Medical Education UT System Medical Foundation is to support McGovern Medical School in its education effort by enforcing the regulatory standards of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and other appropriate agencies and by providing a high level of service to all graduate medical education programs, residents and fellows to ensure that residents and fellows receive the highest quality education and training in accredited programs and that residents and fellows receive the requisite financial support and benefits commensurate with their training.
Neuroscience Graduate Program
The Neuroscience Program at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) provides graduate training in the largest and one of the most highly interactive scientific environments available in the world. At GSBS applicants are admitted through an umbrella admissions program that allows them to chose from over 600 laboratories in which to perform their thesis research.

The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences vision is to create a collaborative and innovative academic environment that inspires and lays the foundation for new generations of biomedical scientists to realize their potential, commit to success and make discoveries that have major impact on treatment of diseases worldwide. Our mission is to maintain an innovative and diverse environment that provides an unprecedented breadth of opportunities for outstanding graduate students to train with leading biomedical scientists at MD Anderson and UTHealth. The combined strengths of these institutions provide students with access to basic and translational scientific programs that are at the cutting edge of the fight to treat all major diseases. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a rigorous exposure to critical thinking strategies, area specific scientific skills, and career development initiatives. The curriculum, together with an emphasis on research training and scientific productivity, is designed to position our students for an outstanding and successful career in the biomedical sciences.
Office of Postdoctoral Affairs
The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs was established to address the needs and provide services to all of the institution’s postdoctoral research scientists. The office serves as an information warehouse and provides an avenue of communication among Postdoctoral Fellows, Faculty, and Administrators on issues related to postdoctoral training.
