Darla Brown
Director
Darla Brown oversees communications for the McGovern Medical School, including publications, social media, and employee and executive communications. Hailing from San Antonio, Darla graduated from Tulane University with a bachelor’s of arts degree in French and political science and later completed leadership studies at Rice University. She honed her writing and editing skills working for newspapers, spending five years an editor and reporter with stints in Montana, New Mexico, and Texas, before moving into higher education communications at University of Houston and McGovern Medical School since 2000.
Outside of the office, Darla loves reading and listening to audio books and keeping up with her two daughters and husband in Pearland. The one food she couldn’t live without is potatoes.
