Hannah A. Dineen, MD, is a fellowship-trained hand surgeon who specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Dr. Dineen treats a wide range of hand, wrist, elbow, and forearm conditions. As a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, she provides care for fractures, tendon injuries, arthritis, nerve compression, carpal tunnel syndrome, and complex trauma.
As a Houston hand surgeon, she focuses on evidence-based and patient-centered care. Her goal is to restore motion and reduce pain. She recommends nonsurgical treatments when possible. When surgery is the best option, she uses arthroscopic, minimally invasive, endoscopic, and microvascular techniques to support precise results and faster recovery.
Dr. Dineen grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, where she earned a degree in microbiology at the University of Arizona. She later attended the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson and joined the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Afterward, she completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. During her training, she received the Health Volunteers Overseas Traveling Orthopaedic Fellowship and traveled to Moshi, Tanzania, for a medical mission trip. She then completed a hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery fellowship at the Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center.
Her academic work includes research, teaching, and innovation in hand and upper extremity care. She has published clinical and basic science studies and contributed to orthopedic textbooks. She also presents her work at regional and national meetings and reviews submissions for the Journal of Hand Surgery. In addition, she supports women and underrepresented groups in orthopaedic surgery and remains active in global outreach.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family, staying active outdoors, and exploring Houston’s restaurant scene.
She sees patients at two convenient locations: Memorial Villages and the Texas Medical Center. Click here to make an appointment.
