Biography

Rick, a native Texan from the Houston area, began his academic journey with an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, graduating in December 1999. He then pursued perfusion training at the Texas Heart Institute School of Perfusion, completing the program in December 2001.

Following his training, Rick worked as a staff perfusionist and instructor at the Texas Heart Institute until late 2005. Over the next decade, he gained experience working with small contract perfusion groups in various hospitals across Houston and the surrounding areas.

In March 2016, Rick joined the Center for Advanced Heart Failure team and the University of Texas Health Science Center, furthering his expertise in the field. Most recently, he earned a Master of Science degree in Biology, specializing in Cell and Molecular Biology, in December 2024.
