Congratulations to Drs. Julio Cordero-Morales and Kuang-Lei Tsai for their promotions

Julio Cordero Morales, PhD
Professor

Dr. Julio Cordero-Morales was promoted to full Professor as of September 1, 2025.  Dr. Cordero-Morales joined the department in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at McGovern Medical School as a tenured Associate Professor from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.  His laboratory studies the structural and molecular mechanisms underlying the function and modulation of ion channels involved in somatosensation and blood pressure regulation. Dr. Kuang-Lei Tsai joined the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at McGovern Medical School as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor, with tenure, as of September 1, 2025.  Dr. Tsai combines advanced cryo-EM techniques with various biochemical and biophysical approaches to explore the structures and functions of macromolecular assemblies involved in gene regulation.  Click here for more information on Dr. Tsai’s research
