Summer Research Program Application

The program begins on Monday, June 7, and concludes on Friday, July 2, 2027. The application deadline for the summer of 2027 is January 15, 2027.  Successful applicants will join laboratories based on their preferred choices. In addition to extensive laboratory experiences, the program includes weekly meetings/conversations with prominent UTHealth clinicians and scientists who will relate their academic and career paths, as well as weekly student-driven workshops with lunch served. The final day of the program will consist of a Minisymposium at which students will present team projects. Parents are invited to the Minisymposium. The $4,000 fee includes registration and lab coats. Housing and parking are not provided.

High school students at least 16 years of age by the start of the program are eligible to apply.  The online application for is shown below.   The application deadline for the summer of 2027 is January 15, 2027.  Ideal candidates will be juniors or seniors who have a strong interest in pursuing a career in biomedical sciences or medicine.  You will be requested to provide:

• High school transcripts:  Please observe the maximum size of the transcript file of 200 KB. Also please note that some transcript files, even PDF files, may have protections that inhibit uploading. And some file names may be incompatible with the uploading process. If you have difficulty uploading your transcript file, please save the file as a new PDF file with a file name of “your last name”_transcript.pdf. • Letters of reference: You must request two letters of reference.  The referees should send their letters directly to [email protected]. One referee may be a person you know personally, preferably a professional in medicine or biomedical research.
