Biography

Michael A. Lopez, D.O. is a cardiothoracic surgeon at Memorial Hermann Southeast, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at McGovern Medical School, University of Texas Health and Science Center at Houston.

Dr. Michael Lopez completed his medical school training at NOVA Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his General Surgery internship and residency at the University of Miami- Palm Beach Regional Campus.  He was awarded Resident of the Year his chief year.  He then completed his Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center/University of Texas Health and Science Center at Houston.  He was awarded the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Director’s Award given for excellence in patient care during his fellowship. He is an active member of the American College of Surgeons and Society of Thoracic Surgery.

In his spare time, he enjoys spearfishing, baseball, watching sporting events, and spending time with his wife and kids, Luke and Lola.
