Vascular Surgery Fellowship

The Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at McGovern Medical School, UTHealth, offers an ACGME approved two-year fellowship program in vascular surgery.  The training program provides exposure to the full spectrum of open and endovascular procedures at Memorial Hermann Texas Heart & Vascular Institute, and Harris Health System.  The program serves as an extension of the 5+2 training pathway, with five years of general surgery residency followed by the two years of vascular surgery training.

As a fellow at UTHealth, individuals will work directly with internationally recognized surgeons, developing surgical techniques, diagnostic modalities (MR, CT, ultrasound), clinical expertise, and will serve as an educator with McGovern Medical School medical students.  The fellows are given ample opportunity to build and enhance their knowledge, judgment and skills through daily interaction with the faculty, in the care of patients in the clinics, wards, or operating room, research studies, and in didactic conferences.  Currently, one fellowship position is offered per year with interviews typically being conducted in November.

Thank you for your interest in the vascular surgery residency programs at McGovern Medical School.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
