Rachel M. Lee MD MSPH is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery practicing primarily in Katy, TX. Dr. Lee completed her undergraduate degree in biochemistry at the University of Texas at Austin followed by a Master of Science in Public Health specializing in Global Disease Epidemiology and Control in the Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She subsequently earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and completed general surgery residency at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. During residency she completed a two-year research sabbatical with the Division of Surgical Oncology and the Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University. She most recently completed cardiothoracic surgery fellowship through the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and McGovern Medical School.
Dr. Lee’s clinical interests include the breadth of general thoracic surgery with particular focus on thoracic surgical oncology and robotic surgery. She holds an adjunct faculty position in the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health and her research efforts are centered around improving access to high quality cancer care for thoracic oncology patients and the implementation and optimization of lung cancer screening programs.
Dr. Lee is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the General Thoracic Surgery Club, The Southern Thoracic Surgery Association, and Women in Thoracic Surgery.
