Guatemala Trip

KK in Guatemala

Keemberly Kim, Class of 2023
2021 Guatemala Trip

KK Guatemala 2The Faith in Practice medical service trip is an amazing opportunity open to upper level residents to bring sustainable medical and dermatologic care to the vulnerable populations in Guatemala. During this week-long experience you get to learn about diseases common in Central America, broaden your knowledge of public health issues, as well as learn how to practice routine dermatology with finite resources. The network of care extends well beyond your one week with the help of local volunteers and future surgical and medical teams.

Research

As a PGY-3 and PGY-4, research time is built into schedules, which allows residents to work on projects related to their future areas of interest or explore other niche areas of dermatology. Residents are supported and encouraged to present research at various conferences. Residents are provided dedicated academic days to attend conferences either to present research or solely as attendees to learn from other investigators.
