Global Health Showcase – Rad-Aid UTHealth – April 2019
Rad-Aid UTHealth chapter was invited to participate at Oulad Khallouf, a rural commune in Morocco where the closest hospital is in Marrakech, approximately 1.5 hours away by ground transportation. As part of a global health initiative, radiology faculty and residents of the UTHealth RAD-AID chapter with a Family medicine faculty traveled to Oulad Khallouf, Morocco with a local multidisciplinary team of volunteer health workers, to observe and provide care to an underserved community. A radiology unit and an ultrasound machine were available in a mobile truck. Eight hundred patients were seen in a two-day period. Comprehensive exams including radiographs and ultrasounds were performed.
