Treatment Options We Offer

  1. Disease-Modifying Therapy (when appropriate)
    • Explain that certain therapies may slow progression in selected patients at risk of rapid progression, with careful monitoring and education.
  2. Blood Pressure & Kidney-Protective Care
    • Individualized BP targets and medication optimization
    • Proteinuria evaluation/management when present
    • Lifestyle guidance (sodium, hydration plan, exercise)
  3. Pain and Symptom Management
    • Structured pain evaluation
    • Non-opioid-first plan, procedures when appropriate
    • Coordination with pain management team
  4. Managing Complications
    • Cyst infection/bleeding pathways
    • Kidney stones prevention and treatment
    • Hematuria evaluation and return precautions

Referral to Transplant Clinic

When to Consider Transplant Referral:

  • eGFR declining toward advanced CKD (often before dialysis is needed)
  • Rapid progression or significant symptom burden
  • Desire to explore living donor options early
