Fellowship in Houston
Houston is one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse metropolitan areas in the United States, famous for its incredible food, arts and culture, sports teams, and healthcare. It is the fourth largest city in the United States yet is one of the most affordable cities for its size.
Houston is home to the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world, with over 10 million patient visits per year. It is made up of 54 medicine-related institutions, with 21 hospitals and eight specialty institutions, eight academic and research institutions, four medical schools, seven nursing schools, three public health organizations, two pharmacy schools, and a dental school.
Houston is also home for every major professional sports team except hockey, and is one of only a few cities in the US with permanent, professional, resident companies in all major performing arts disciplines: opera (Houston Grand Opera), ballet (Houston Ballet), music (Houston Symphony Orchestra), and theater (The Alley Theatre, Theatre Under the Stars). We are home to one of the largest rodeos in the world as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo attracts over 2.5 million visitors each year. And despite our warm summers, most of the year the weather allows for plenty of time spent outside at our many beautiful green spaces including Buffalo Bayou, Hermann Park, Memorial Park, and Discovery Green.
