Natasha KharasGraduate student Natasha Kharas from the lab of Valentin Dragoi, has received a three-year, pre-doctoral fellowship from the National Eye Institute for her project titled, “The effects of sleep on neuronal coding in cortical layers and behavioral performance.”

Kharas’s research focuses on how sleep improves behavioral performance. She explains that since 1929 research has shown that a person performs a task better after sleeping—recent studies show this holds true even with a nap as short as six minutes.
