Biography

Dr. Ying Chen is a board-certified ophthalmologist and cosmetic surgeon with subspecialty training in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. She is an oculofacial plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the eyes and face, with particular expertise in Asian blepharoplasty, including double eyelid surgery.

After graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, Dr. Chen earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for her academic excellence. She completed her ophthalmology residency and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Dr. Chen currently holds the A.G. McNeese, Jr., Professorship in Ophthalmology at UTHealth Houston. She is the recipient of the prestigious Marvin Quickert Thesis Award and several other research honors, and has presented her work at numerous national conferences. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Chen’s research interests include aesthetic applications in ophthalmic plastic surgery and eyelid reconstruction. She has published in peer-reviewed journals including Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Annals of Translational Medicine, and Journal of VitreoRetinal Diseases, and has contributed to several book chapters.

Dr. Chen is deeply committed to medical education and has received multiple teaching awards for her work with medical students and residents. She serves as a clinical preceptor for both ophthalmology and plastic surgery residents and is passionate about mentorship and surgical training. Her clinical interests include cosmetic eyelid surgery, brow lifts, laser rejuvenation and skin resurfacing, and nonsurgical facial rejuvenation with Botox® and dermal fillers.
