Biography

Dr. Ying Chen, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and cosmetic surgeon, and an assistant professor with subspecialty training in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery.

After graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, Dr. Chen earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for her academic accomplishments. After she completed her ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, she trained with world-renowned mentors at the same institution as an American Society of Ophthalmic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) fellow.

Dr. Chen’s research interests include aesthetic applications in ophthalmic plastic surgery and eyelid reconstruction. She has presented her research at multiple national conferences and is published in several peer-reviewed journals including Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Annals of Translational Medicine, and Journal of VitreoRetinal Diseases, among others. She also has authored or contributed to several book chapters.

Dr. Chen is committed to teaching and is passionate about educating residents, fellows, and medical students. She has clinical interests in aesthetic and cosmetic treatments, including cosmetic eyelid surgery, brow lifts, nonsurgical rejuvenation of the face with Botox® and filler injections, as well laser skin resurfacing.
