Morgan N. Fredell is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in complex cataract, cornea, and intraocular lens surgeries at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Dr. Fredell received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine after earning a bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Texas at Austin. She also attained a Master of Business Administration from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University, where she collaborated with Texas Children’s Hospital and Texas Children’s Health Plan.
Dr. Fredell completed her ophthalmology residency at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Health and a fellowship in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute.
Dr. Fredell has conducted research investigating the risk factors of corneal transplant failure, the positive factors leading to corneal transplant success, and the visual outcomes after cataract surgery using novel intraocular lens. She has presented at various local and national conferences and been published in leading ophthalmology and scientific journals.
Before joining the faculty of the Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at McGovern Medical School, Dr. Fredell was the chief ophthalmology resident at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Health, where she developed and implemented new procedures to enhance the residency training experience and improve patient outcomes. At the Wilmer Eye Institute, Dr. Fredell continued to improve patient care through collaboration with the Johns Hopkins pharmacy.
Dr. Fredell is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Cornea Society.
Physicians at the Robert Cizik Eye Clinic engage referring physicians in the care of their patients, keeping them informed about patient progress throughout the evaluation and treatment process. After a patient’s treatment, referring physicians receive a summary and a plan for follow-up. Our physicians encourage continued communication about each patient.
