McGovern Medical School proudly congratulates Timothy J. McCulley, MD, professor and chair of the Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, on his appointment as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology (JNO), the official journal of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS).
Dr. McCulley brings a wealth of clinical expertise and academic leadership to this new role. He has also served on the JNO editorial board for over 15 years. As the JNO editor-in-chief, Dr. McCulley will guide the journal’s strategic content development, oversee peer review processes, and strive to enhance the publication’s quality, impact, and relevance as a leading voice in neuro-ophthalmology.
“We are confident in Dr. McCulley’s ability to build on the journal’s strong foundation,” said NANOS President Peter Quiros, MD, in his formal announcement. “Dr. McCulley’s vision and dedication will be instrumental in shaping the future of JNO and continuing to elevate its standing as the premier publication in our field.”
Dr. McCulley, who joined McGovern Medical School in September 2021, reflected on the significance of the appointment: “I’m truly honored to be entrusted with this opportunity. It’s a privilege to contribute to the field in this way, sharing the work of so many talented colleagues. I’m also grateful to my team and the medical school for their continued support—this role reflects what we’ve built together.”
