Biography

Ashton S. Mansour, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic hand surgeon and an associate professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He treats patients of all ages with hand, wrist, and elbow conditions. Additionally, he offers both nonoperative and surgical options tailored to each patient’s needs. His expertise includes minimally invasive hand surgery, wrist and elbow arthroscopy, complex hand fractures and dislocations, microsurgery, and advanced reconstruction procedures.

His clinical interests span the full spectrum of common and complex upper extremity problems. He provides care for hand tendon injuries, nerve and vessel injuries, arthritis, sports injuries, complex hand trauma, and trigger finger. As part of his comprehensive hand and upper extremity practice, Dr. Mansour also manages highly searched conditions such as wrist fractures, hand ligament injuries, tendonitis, ganglion cysts, carpal tunnel syndrome, and cubital tunnel syndrome. Through a patient-centered approach, he emphasizes clear communication and evidence-based care to help patients relieve pain, improve motion, and return to daily activities.

Dr. Mansour grew up in Alexandria, Louisiana. He graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University. Later, he earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He then completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Emory University in Atlanta. During residency, he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha for his leadership and dedication to teaching.

After residency, he completed a hand surgery fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. There, he gained extensive experience in hand, wrist, and elbow procedures and microsurgery. His work at Vanderbilt strengthened his passion for complex trauma care, minimally invasive procedures, and resident education.These experiences eventually brought him back to Texas to join the faculty at UTHealth Houston. 

Today, he focuses on effective nonoperative and operative care for hand, wrist, and elbow conditions. He takes time to educate patients about their diagnosis and every available treatment options. As a result, patients feel informed, supported, and confident in their recovery plan. Moreover, he remains committed to advancing patient care by training the next generation of hand surgeons.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys time with family, mentoring his nieces and nephews in sports, exploring new restaurants, exercising, and traveling. He also values leading his family in a faith-centered life.
