Biography

Dr. Omar Madriz earned his undergraduate degree at The University of Texas at Austin and his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed his residency in general surgery in the DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He subsequently completed his Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at McGovern Medical School.

Dr. Madriz is Board-certified in both Colon and Rectal Surgery and General Surgery. Dr. Madriz treats patients out of the West side of Houston, including the Memorial City and Katy regions. Dr. Madriz’s interests are clinical in nature and include colon cancer screening, treatment of benign and malignant conditions of the colon, rectum and anus, surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, as well as minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He is also involved in surgical education and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston McGovern Medical School.

Dr. Madriz has been a member of the Colon & Rectal Clinic of Houston since 2000. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, as well as a member of the Texas Medical Association, the Texas Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the Harris County Medical Society.
