Welcome, Ollieta Nicholas, MBA, FACHE — Incoming Director of Management Operations

We are pleased to announce that Ollieta Nicholas, MBA, FACHE, has officially joined the Department of Surgery this week as the new Director of Management Operations (DMO). Nicholas brings over two decades of experience in academic medicine, healthcare operations, and financial management, most recently serving as Senior Director of Operations and Strategy for the Department of Internal Medicine at Dell Medical School.

Her extensive background includes leadership roles at MD Anderson Cancer Center and The University of Texas at Austin, where she led strategic planning, faculty affairs, clinical program development, and financial oversight. A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Nicholas is recognized for her collaborative leadership style and track record of operational excellence.

She will succeed Patricia Birkmeyer, who has served in the role with dedication and distinction. Patricia has been appointed Vice President for Clinical Business Affairs & Affiliation Management for UTHealth Houston. We thank her for her outstanding leadership and continued service to the institution.
