Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Apply a biopsychosocial framework to identify biological, psychological, and social factors that may influence perioperative care and recovery in older adults.
  • Identify patient-centered postoperative outcomes that complement traditional measures of surgical morbidity and mortality and explain their relevance to recovery.
  • Explain how patient goals and priorities can inform perioperative decision-making and the assessment of meaningful surgical outcomes.
