Notes:
Vacation Policy: The policy allows three weeks of vacation each academic year based on written approval from the Program Director and arranged to minimize clinical and educational disruption.
Rotation name clarification:
Adult Plastic Surgery: This is a high-volume plastic surgery rotation at our primary clinical site which provides the full-spectrum of adult reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Areas of particular emphasis include extremity reconstruction; breast, trunk and abdominal reconstruction; post- bariatric body contouring; gender affirmation surgery; and aesthetic breast surgery.
LBJ Plastic Surgery: This is a County Hospital rotation which provides general plastic surgery reconstruction services for the indigent patient population of Harris County. Areas of emphasis include breast reconstruction, hand trauma, elective hand surgery, and extremity reconstruction.
Elective: Three months of elective rotation are scheduled during the final year of training. These months are designed to allow the chief resident to gain additional clinical experience in an area of plastic surgery of interest to them. Examples of electives may include the following: aesthetic surgery elective with local plastic surgeons, focused experience in microvascular breast reconstruction, and an international global health rotation (with prior ACGME Review Committee approval).
