Biography

Dr. Amit K. Agarwal was born in Paris, Texas, grew up there, and attended Paris High School. He earned an undergraduate degree in Biology at Austin College, Sherman, Texas, and a medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He then completed his residency in General Surgery and a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at McGovern Medical School.

Dr. Agarwal treats patients of all ages. His clinical interests include minimally invasive and robotic surgery of the colon and rectum, cancer screening-colonoscopy, benign and malignant conditions of the colon, rectum and anus as well as pelvic floor disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and treatment of incontinence. He is also involved in surgical education and clinical research.

Author of a number of peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters, Dr. Agarwal has presented scientific research regionally and nationally. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Texas Medical Association, and the Harris County Medical Society.

He is married to Dr. Nima-Patel Agarwal, an Obstetrician and Gynecologist at McGovern Medical School. In his free time, he enjoys going to sporting events, running, skiing, deep sea fishing, and spending time with friends and family.
