Stefanos Millas was born at Park Plaza Hospital and grew up in Houston, attending Strake Jesuit. After graduating from Texas A&M with a degree in Microbiology, he worked in a lab for two years before setting his sights on medical school.
“I like science and wanted to push myself. I went into medicine, and surgery, because it was hard, and its perceived toughness drew me to it. Making critical judgments at 4 am can be stressful at times, but this is also what makes the practice of surgery so very rewarding.”
Stefanos and his wife have an 18-month-old daughter. In his spare time, he likes target shooting, skeet shooting, hiking and watching movies. Favorite movies include Full Metal Jacket, Argo and The Big Lebowski.
“I like the people I work with and the patients,” he says. “At LBJ specifically, patients are very appreciative of what you do and trust you, so you want to do well by them.”
