Biography

Tamara Ellis Saunders, MD, FACS, is a breast and general surgeon affiliated with Memorial Hermann – Katy, Memorial Hermann -Texas Medical Center, Memorial Herman – Southeast, and maintains privileges at several other Memorial Hermann Hospitals as well as Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital and the Woman’s Hospital of Texas. She is an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School.

Board-certified in General Surgery, Dr. Saunders earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and completed her general surgery internship and residency at UTHealth Houston. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Saunders is also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology and the Association of Academic Surgeons. With extensive experience in performing operations for diseases of the breast, her clinical focus is on breast conservation using oncoplastic techniques, nipple-sparing mastectomy, axillary preservation, and personalized treatment plans. She treats breast cancer and benign and malignant conditions of the breast as well as high-risk lesions, genetic mutations, and surveillance for high-risk patients with cancer predispositions.
