Applications are available on ProposalCentral approximately 3 months before the deadline. Application deadlines for most grants are June 1st and December 1st (11:59pm EST).

Application Notifications
About 1 month after submitting an application, applicants will receive an email with an application number and names of their Scientific Director and Peer Review Committee.Â
About 4 months after submitting, applications will have been reviewed and applicants will receive reviewer critiques.
Final funding decisions are made in January and August.

Applications are restricted to universities, colleges, or other educational institutions located within the state of Texas and also listed as an educational institution by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Additional Information for Research Grants
Research grant deadline is January 31st at noon CST
Yearly progress reports are due at Proposal Central at noon CST on July 31st of each year
No-cost Extensions: Principal Investigators may request a no-cost extension for research grants for up to 12 months. Requests must be submitted to The Welch Foundation prior to the current termination date using the ‘deliverable template’ for no-cost extensions and uploaded as a deliverable in Proposal Central.
