Biography

Barbi Witz, PA graduated from The Baylor College of Medicine PA program in 1987. She is board certified by the NCCPA and has recertified five additional times. After graduation, she began her career at MacGregor Houston Medical Center in Ob-Gyn. She moved to San Antonio and served as Clinical Coordinator of the Advanced Practice Provider Department at RIOSA hospital, where she gained experience in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation that included neuro, ortho, burn, and spinal cord rehabilitation.

After moving back to Houston, she became Faculty at BCM in the Surgery Department and Allied Health Department working in abdominal transplant and vascular surgery prior to joining UT Health and is now the Surgical Advanced Practice Provider Manager in the department of Advanced Cardiopulmonary Therapies and Transplantation.

She has served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Gulf Coast PA Association as President and Trustee. She is currently one of the Co-Chairs on the Memorial Hermann System APP Council. She was elected to become a Fellow of the APACVS (Association of PA’s in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery) and awarded CPAAPA (Clinical Preceptor of American Association of PA’s.) She is an Assistant Professor for the UTMB PA program and serves as a preceptor.

Throughout her career, she has also instructed and mentored pre-PA’s from Debakey HS as well as PA students from The Baylor College of Medicine, UTHSC-SA, Kings College, UAB, and Penn State. She also serves on the BCM PA Program Admissions Committee. Barbi has given lectures locally and regionally and instructed advanced suture workshops.
