Clinical Social Workers

Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) help patients and their families address how their illness affects their lives. We work with their strengths and weaknesses related to social support, coping skills, compliance, mental health, substance abuse, legal problems, and finances.  If there are problems in any of these areas, the LCSW will help find solutions.  Some of the interventions LCSWs use are:

  • Referral to community counseling resources
  • Referral to community Financial, Housing, Transportation, and Food resources
  • Referral to State and Federal disability programs
  • Solution Focused Brief Therapy
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Bereavement Counseling

Our social workers are specialists in caring for patients and their families experiencing advanced cardiac or pulmonary disease.   All of our full-time LCSWs are Certified Clinical Transplant Social Worker and Mechanical Circulatory Support Social Workers (CCTSW-MCS). This dual certification from the International Society for Transplant Social Workers is the highest credential obtainable for social workers who specialize in Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support
