Biography

Dr. Sophia Khan is an Assistant Professor for the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Dr. Khan received her undergraduate degree in Biological Behavior at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, followed by her medical school training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. She continued her surgical training at Cooper University in New Jersey, before pursuing vascular surgery training at UTHealth in Houston.  Prior to joining the McGovern Medical School’s Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Faculty Group, she received additional training in advanced endovascular aortic repair at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

She specializes in open and minimally invasive treatment of vascular disease with a clinical and research interest in the treatment of aortic disease, and the role of genetics in vascular disease.  She is active in many research studies and has published articles in several medical journals, and has presented on many topics surrounding vascular surgery interventions.
