Director’s Message:

Welcome to the Center for Neuroimmunology and Glial Biology (CNG) at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School. Harnessing the brain’s immune system to combat neurological diseases is the driving force behind the establishment of the CNG. Like a healthy immune system ward off diseases, the brain’s immune system regulates neurological health. At CNG, we aim to manipulate brain immune system to treat brain diseases. Thus, CNG is an interdisciplinary research center dedicated to understanding brain immune system to develop future neuroimmune therapy for brain diseases.

The CNG recruits cohort of research faculty, each contributing their unique expertise to unravel the mysteries of the brain’s immune system. The faculty conducts research using cutting-edge techniques across a wide range of disciplines including neurodegenerative disease, epilepsy, pain, stroke, vascular diseases, traumatic brain injury, metabolic diseases etc. The CNG has state-of-the-art facilities comprising of multi-photon live-imaging systems, electrophysiology, multi-channel EEG recording, confocal microscopy, rodent behavior facility, cell culture facility and other molecular techniques which will enable scientists to extend existing strength of discovery science and translation research.

The CNG is in its nascent stages and offers an opportunity to budding scientists and talents to join the force to understand and unravel the mysteries of brain in health and disease.
