Biography

Dr. Dana E. Giza, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She completed her medical degree at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila in Bucharest, Romania, followed by a Family Medicine residency and a Geriatric Medicine fellowship at UTHealth.

Dr. Giza is board-certified in Family Medicine and specializes in the care of older adults, particularly those with cancer. Her research is focused on adopting a patient-centered approach to survivorship care, and she has received funding from the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to support this work.

She is a Butler-Williams Scholar and an MCC Aging Initiative Scholar, reflecting her commitment to advancing geriatric oncology through innovative, assessment-driven care models. Dr. Giza practices at the UT Physicians Center for Healthy Aging and the Acute Care for the Elderly unit at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Romanian, she is also an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Geriatrics Society, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
