Dr. Jason Burnett is a gerontologist whose work bridges aging care services and the healthcare system. He serves as Director of the Texas Elder Abuse and Mistreatment
(TEAM) Collaboratory, where he leads efforts to prevent and reduce elder mistreatment and self-neglect by addressing key risk factors. Dr. Burnett and his team have developed intervention programs that have been implemented and replicated at both state and national levels. His current research focuses on the role of social disconnection and mental health in the onset and continuation of elder mistreatment, self-neglect, and stroke. Nationally recognized for his contributions in these areas, Dr. Burnett also serves as Director of the UTHealth Houston Social Connection Program and is the Elder Mistreatment Core Lead for the UTHealth Houston Institute on Aging.
