Biography

Dr. Hwang serves as medical director of the UT Physicians Internal Medicine — Texas Medical Center clinic and director of the General Internal Medicine fellowship. In addition to patient care, his pursuits include research, quality improvement, and optimization of electronic health records. His research and scholarly work are published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, American Journal of Medicine, Preventive Medicine, and others. He is the clinical lead of the Clinical Decision Support-Our Practice Advisory Council and an EPIC Physician Builder. Dr. Hwang also serves as the national chair of the American Heart Association Outpatient Quality Improvement Advisory Committee. He is board-certified in internal medicine and clinical informatics.

Dr. Hwang first joined McGovern Medical School in the Joint Primary Care Fellowship, during which time he also completed his MPH degree. He attended Rice University, received his MD at the University of Texas Medical Branch, and completed his internal medicine training at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
