Biography

Dr. Soumya Patnaik completed her medical school and obtained her MBBS degree from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University, India. She finished her internal medicine residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia followed by fellowship in cardiovascular disease at UTHealth, where she served as chief fellow during her final year of training. She then underwent a year of subspecialty training in Advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology in UTHealth. She has since joined as faculty in the Cardiology division at UTHealth. Her clinical interests include heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, congenital heart disease, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, and cardiovascular imaging. She also enjoys teaching and mentoring the future generations of physicians: the fellows, residents and medical students.

Dr. Patnaik is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and in adult comprehensive echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
