Dr. Soumya Patnaik started her journey with the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston in 2017. After earning her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from Kasturba Medical College/Manipal University in Manipal, India, she completed her Internal Medicine residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at UTHealth. She underwent an additional year of subspecialty training in Advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at UTHealth. She joined as faculty in the Cardiovascular division at UTHealth in 2021.
Dr Patnaik holds multiple board certifications and has a wide range of clinical interests that include heart failure and cardiogenic shock, pulmonary hypertension, congenital heart disease and women’s cardiovascular health, valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, preventive cardiology and cardiovascular imaging. She is committed to providing individualized, high quality, compassionate patient care with a collaborative approach. She enjoys teaching and mentoring the future generations of physicians: the fellows, residents and medical students. She has authored several manuscripts and serves as a reviewer/editorial board member of various cardiology journals. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Heart Failure Society of America and a member of American Heart Association, and American College of Physicians.
