Biography

Dr. Rizwana Syed is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology. She completed her fellowship at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY, and previously served as an Academic Internist and Faculty at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) School of Medicine. Dr. Syed is strongly committed to medical education, having served as a Medical Student Site Director at UIC and participated in multiple curriculum and evaluation committees.

Her clinical interests include hematologic malignancies and solid tumor oncology, with procedural expertise in bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, as well as chemotherapy administration. She has been actively involved in research, serving as a sub-investigator on multiple clinical trials and quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient care and medical education.

Dr. Syed is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American Society of Hematology (ASH). She is fluent in Urdu and Hindi, enabling her to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.

Dr. Syed enjoys reading, traveling, swimming, and engaging in cultural discussions outside of medicine. She values spending time with her family and embracing experiences that foster personal and professional growth.
