Biography

Dr. Ezenwa Onyema is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hospital Medicine and the Joan & Stanford Alexander Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine at UTHealth McGovern Medical School. He earned his medical degree from Ross University, completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and pursued a fellowship in geriatric medicine at McGovern Medical School. A dedicated advocate for the Age-Friendly Health Systems initiative, he promotes goal-concordant care for older adults through interprofessional collaboration and system-wide best practices. Dr. Onyema is passionate about interprofessional education and actively engages in “geriatricizing” clinicians at Memorial Hermann-TMC. He also supports his colleagues through Code Lilac, a peer support program for difficult clinical events. He lives in Richmond, TX, with his wife and three children, and enjoys playing soccer in his free time.
