Dr. Ajayi is an assistant professor in the Interventional Gastroenterology and Endoluminal Surgery section. He earned his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine, following his completion of a Molecular and Cellular Biology degree and a Master of Public Health degree at Texas A&M University. His training in medicine continued at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he completed his internship and residency. This was followed by a gastroenterology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, where he simultaneously completed an advanced training program in Motility and Neurogastroenterology through the ANMS.
Dr. Ajayi’s interests include prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of most disorders of the digestive system, including gastrointestinal and liver cancers, reflux disorders, hiatal hernias, Barrett’s esophagus, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, cirrhosis, hemorrhoids, anorectal disease, and certain pancreaticobiliary disorders. He is specially trained in using advanced technology to diagnose and manage reflux and motility disorders. He maintained an interest in research and medical education throughout his training and is well-published in major scientific journals. He has been fortunate to receive multiple grants to support his interests. He serves in local and national professional associations, including on the American College of Gastroenterology FDA-related matters committee.
Dr. Ajayi is dedicated to his patients. His priority is ensuring that his patients feel heard and that the care provided is tailored to the specific needs of his patients and their families. His goal is to partner with his patients, guiding them through complex medical decisions and helping them achieve the best outcomes. He is responsive to questions, takes time to explain details of procedures and test results, and ensures that his patients have timely access to the highest quality care. He is committed to improving his craft, constantly learning and incorporating the latest technology and innovations into his practice. He treats patients above 18.
He lives in Houston with his family and, in his spare time, enjoys group workouts, traveling, and cooking.
