Temini Ajayi, MD, MPH

Biography

Dr. Ajayi earned his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina. He completed his residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, followed by fellowship training in Gastroenterology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. During his fellowship, he simultaneously completed an advanced training program in Motility and Neurogastroenterology through the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society (ANMS).

Board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, Dr. Ajayi cares for adult patients ages 18 and older. He has specialized expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex gastrointestinal disorders, particularly reflux and gastrointestinal motility disorders. His advanced training includes the evaluation and treatment of swallowing disorders, achalasia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, hiatal hernias, Barrett’s esophagus, gastroparesis, esophageal cancer, hemorrhoids, and fecal incontinence. He also provides comprehensive care for a broad range of other gastrointestinal conditions, including diarrhea, constipation, peptic ulcers, diverticulitis, colon cancer screening, gastrointestinal and liver cancers, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and select pancreaticobiliary disorders.

Dr Ajayi currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology at UTHealth and as Chief and Medical Director of Gastroenterology at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital (MHNE) in Humble, Texas. He is also the director of MHNE’s Heartburn and Reflux Program (HARP) and Anorectal Disorders Program. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Ajayi maintains an active interest in research and has published extensively in leading scientific journals. He is actively involved in local and national professional organizations and serves on the American College of Gastroenterology’s FDA-related Matters Committee.

Dr. Ajayi lives in Houston with his family. Outside of medicine, he enjoys group workouts, traveling, and cooking.
