Presentation Title: Team Science: The Key to Effective Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Apply the latest evidence with patients and practice evidence-based medicine.
  • Discuss current research and its potential for application to patient care.
  • Discuss the latest clinical practice guidelines relevant to clinical practice.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the seven Cs of teamwork.
  • Differentiate between traditional teamwork and dynamic teaming, and apply strategies such as shared mental models, psychological safety, and structured debriefs to improve performance in both clinical and scientific teams.
  • Explain how transparency, such as through Open Notes, empowers patients to become members of the clinical team and to identify safety issues and contribute to diagnostic accuracy, especially in complex or distributed care settings.
