Dr. Shin was born in South Korea and immigrated to Los Angeles with his parents when in elementary school. He graduated with an MD from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2017. He completed an internal medicine residency at Temple University Hospital, a general cardiology fellowship at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, and an electrophysiology fellowship at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
