Ekaterina Yavarovich, DO

Biography

Ekaterina Yavarovich, DO (Dr. Kate), is an interventional pulmonologist at UTHealth Houston who specializes in diagnosing and treating lung and airway conditions using advanced, minimally invasive techniques. She completed her training in internal medicine and pulmonary and critical care medicine, followed by an additional year of specialized fellowship training in interventional pulmonology at Lahey Clinic in Boston, MA.

Dr. Yavarovich has extensive experience caring for patients with lung cancer, pulmonary nodules, pleural disease, airway narrowing/stenosis, severe emphysema and COPD, and conditions that cause airway collapse, such as tracheobronchomalacia. She uses state-of-the-art bronchoscopic approaches, including bronchoscopic lung volume reduction with endobronchial valve placement for severe COPD/emphysema and robotic bronchoscopy, to diagnose and treat lung disease while minimizing discomfort and recovery time for patients.

Before joining UTHealth Houston, Dr. Yavarovich practiced at Lahey Clinic, where she served as Medical Director for Surgical Lung Volume Reduction and helped train future interventional pulmonologists as Associate Program Director of the fellowship program.

Dr. Yavarovich is known for her compassionate, patient-centered approach and takes time to ensure patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options. She is also deeply committed to education and research, helping advance care for patients with complex lung and airway diseases while teaching medical students, residents, and fellows nationwide.
