Biography
Dr. Chua is a graduate of McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He then completed a clinical fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Patient Safety & Quality at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. During his fellowship, he graduated with a Master’s in Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Prior to joining the faculty at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health and McGovern Medical School in 2026, Dr. Chua taught students at Harvard Medical School, practiced palliative medicine, and conducted research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA. His research focuses on improving quality measurement in geriatrics and palliative care and evaluating and implementing digital health tools to scale palliative care delivery while ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care for patients with serious illness.
