Biography

Dr. Deepa Raghunathan obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in biomedical engineering. She then completed medical school at Texas A&M College of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and then her cardiology fellowship at UTHealth, where she served as chief fellow during her final year of training. She has since joined as faculty at UTHealth. Her clinical interests include cardiovascular imaging, preventative cardiology, and management of coronary artery disease, valvular disease, and heart failure. She also enjoys teaching and mentoring medical students, residents and fellows.

Dr. Raghunathan is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and in nuclear cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. She is also board-certified in adult comprehensive echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography and has completed level III training in echocardiography. She is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

She enjoys teaching and mentoring medical students, residents and fellows. Dr. Raghunathan currently serves as an Associate Program Director for the General Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and the Program Director for the Innovations in Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at UTHealth.
