Biography

Renee J. Flores, MD, MHSA, FACP, EdD, AGSF, is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where she serves as core faculty in the Internal Medicine Residency Program, and holds an appointment with the McGovern Center for Humanities & Ethics.

She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and Geriatric Medicine, and also holds certification as a Sexuality Counselor and Educator. Dr. Flores earned her Doctor of Education in Professional Leadership in Health Science Education from the University of Houston and a Certification of Professional Achievement in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University.

Her academic interests include geriatric education, narrative medicine, sexual health in older adults, and physician well-being. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honors Society and the recipient of the American Geriatrics Society Clinical Educator of the Year Career Award (2025).
